Sid Lloyd, President and CEO
Sid's interest in a career of health service started in college when he spent most of a year working in a tiny hospital in the middle of nowhere, Bangladesh, as part of his pre-med experience. Seeing the desperate need for preventive health, he returned from overseas and changed his field of study to health. After being advised by his college career counselor that a career in preventive health might be noble but he would certainly starve, he added education as a double major. Upon graduating college, he started teaching high-school health, biology, physical education, and computer science.
Computers were fascinating and after 6 years of teaching, Sid moved into computer sales and engineering. He ended up spending 15 years with Compaq and HP in the business development and marketing areas before returning to his first passion: preventive health at Lifestyle Center of America.
Sid currently services as chief cook and bottle washer (CEO) for Ardmore Institute of Health (Lifestyle Center of America) and thoroughly enjoys helping people prevent and reverse chronic disease through simple lifestyle change. He was smart enough to marry a much smarter wife (Mari) and they have two great boys who enjoy life in a whacky geodesic dome house in the middle of dry sunny Arizona.Oh, they also have three huge playful golden retrievers that shed amazing amounts of hair. Sid loves family stuff, mountain biking, swimming and fixing stuff, including a little electric car.

Kevin Brown, CPA, MBA, MS, Vice President and CFO
Kevin comes from a long line of bean counters on both sides of his family, although he has learned a variety of methods to disguise this history. He earned his MBA from the University of Illinois in 1987, and his MS in Information Systems Management from Seattle Pacific University in 1993. He is also a licensed CPA in the state of Oklahoma. Prior to working for the Lifestyle Center, he kept track of intra ocular lenses, dimension lumber, specialty doors, cedar fencing and cancer drugs for several entrepreneurs in the Pacific Northwest. His search for sun, space and service brought him to the Lifestyle Center in 2005.
Kevin finds much in common between financial health and physical health. Before he could talk in complete sentences, he was taught to save money instead of spending it. Shortly after this lesson, he learned that delayed gratification also applied to food, and that he couldn’t eat the good tasting stuff until he’d had his – you guessed it – beans.

“He who has health, has hope; and he who has hope, has everything!
- Arabian Proverb
Since I started working here in 2002, I have derived pleasure from knowing that I am helping thousands of people learn how to better manage their diabetes and overall health. It is personally satisfying to be able to offer that kind of help to individuals. Since I have always been a physically active, health-minded person, I feel I must lead by example, so I practice what we teach here at Lifestyle Center of America. It has been very rewarding indeed.

“God always takes the simplest way.”
- Albert Einstein
I’ve been passionate about health and sharing that with others for over 20 years in a variety of capacities. I’ve worked as a certified aerobics instructor, registered massage therapist, and had the opportunity of hosting a diabetes cooking series. I’ve been a team member at the Lifestyle Center of America since 2002 and get deep satisfaction from helping people realize they CAN get their health back and feel good again.
“Slay your dragons while they’re babies!”
- Dr. William F. Brady
Too often many of us wait for change while our small issues grow into a great big problem. This is why I’m so passionate about tackling problems now, before they get any bigger. For almost a decade, I’ve had strong interest and an informal background in nutrition, fitness and lifestyle changes. So it was a natural fit for me to join the Lifestyle Center of America in 2006 when the opportunity arose. Here I was trained and educated more specifically about diabetes, metabolic syndrome and the powerful impact Lifestyle Medicine has on them. When I speak to someone my number one goal is to try and help them think a little differently about their diabetes and overall health.

Christine De la Cruz - Accounting
Christine will always be a Hawaiian at heart. She left home to go to college in Texas, and moved to Oklahoma in 2006 (of all places) to work as the accountant at the Lifestyle Center of America. But she misses the ocean, with its cool gentle breeze and refreshing clear water where she would frequently go to ride the waves with her body board on a nice day. Overall she enjoys the outdoors, likes to travel, spend time with her husband and family, and likes to stay involved in her church’s outreach to the community.
Lonnie Carbaugh, LPC – Behavior Health
For the last seven years Lonnie has served LCA as a counselor, teacher, and program director. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), so you might say he is LCA’s resident “shrink.” His passion is trying to figure out what makes people tick (it will likely take him at least the rest of his life to fully figure that one out!) and helping them discover principles that will help them maximize their potential. He received his MS in Community Counseling from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas in 2001 and is also certified in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) from the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City.
Linda Brinegar, Culinary Services/Conference Center
Wife, Mom, Grandma, avid bird watcher, practical joker and chef extraordinaire, Linda grew up in the mission fields of Ecuador where she fell in love with the lush tropical jungles and developed a deep desire to serve.
That longing to serve eventually brought her to the rolling hills of the Arbuckle Mountains and the Lifestyle Center of America where she has prepared delicious gourmet meals for hundreds of our guests. It has been a real thrill for her to watch people’s bodies restored as they change their lifestyles and develop healthy eating habits. Her passion is creating events that are fun, not just practical and is the Operational Manager of the Lake View Conference Center.
If you can’t find Linda at work, she is hiding out in her 106 year old Victorian farmhouse in the historic village of Wynnewood, OK.
Amy Hanus – Fitness Director
Amy transplanted to Oklahoma from Georgia after marring her Okie, Chris and absolutely loves the laidback way of life Oklahoma offers. She’s our Georgia Peach that graduated from Georgia College and State University in 2001 with an emphasis in Exercise Science. She has been our fitness guru, health coach, and book tour coordinator to name a few things. Her objective is to give the world the confidence, knowledge, and ability to control their health through their lifestyle choices. In her spare time she keeps up her active lifestyle by riding her horse Dixie, water skiing, working on her old farmhouse, and playing Frisbee with her dog Gracie Lou.
Diana Fleming, PhD - Nutrition
It would have had to be something very special to pull Diana from the academic environment of Tufts University in Boston where she earned her PhD in nutrition. That something special was The Lifestyle Center of America. There she found a breathtaking setting in which to express one of her greatest passions in life---teaching people about the incredible benefits of a plant-based diet. Her ability to enthusiastically present complex subjects in a simple, practical, understandable manner has made her a favorite teacher with clients and staff alike. However, she repeatedly assures all of them that she is NOT the food police. Diana also knows how to take the theory of nutrition from the paper to the plate. She loves to cook and bake deliciously nutritious plant-based dishes in her spare time.

Dan Braun - Director of Marketing
Dan juggles two full time jobs, working virtually 24 hours a day. Dan’s night duties require corralling 4 diapered dissidents through the many evening rites such as “I made pee”. During the daylight hours, Dan repurposes his “doing ten things at once” skill-set to trying to convince a defiant world that hope for diabetes isn’t wrapped in a magic bullet.
While in college, Dan’s goal was to someday work in marketing for a big health care organization. He never expected that his journey would lead him to a pioneer spirited non-profit in rural Oklahoma.
Dan’s dream is for lifestyle medicine’s roll in reversing diabetes to become so mainstream, that Lifestyle Center of America becomes the Macintosh of the diabetes non-profit sector in the US.
Michelle Jones – Marketing
Born in communist Romania in 1980, Michelle and her family migrated to the US after the revolution of 1989. She graduated college with a BA in biology, but the formative years she spent subjected to propaganda messages in movies, shows, music, literature, and cartoons ultimately made her ideal for working in our marketing department. And so, that’s where she spends most of her time word-smithing, web mapping, newsletter designing and doing pretty much anything else that involves getting out our message to “the people”. Luckily for us she’s bounced around the US since 1992 (CA, GA, TN, OK), so she’s not dictatorial in her pursuits, just dedicated.
Ricky Seiler – Director of Call Center
Ricky joined the LCA team just before the furniture arrived at the Sulphur location back in 1996. Even though he is a native Texan, Ricky’s roots run deep between Oklahoma and Louisiana. He’s professional background has primarily been in healthcare for the last 20 years. Prior to joining LCA, he served as a director in the marketing and public relations department in hospitals in Texas and Florida. Ricky, his wife Vivian and their two teenage children enjoy being active in their local church, traveling, all kinds of food and discovering life together. His passion for helping those with diabetes is driven from the earlier death of his grandfather due to diabetic complications. As director of the Program Information and Call Center, his daily focus is creating a welcoming environment for anyone with diabetes to call and receive help that can make a difference in their life right now.
Joseph A. Haynes – IT Director
A natural from an early age, Joe was born with a computer in one hand and a mouse in the other. Raised in Montana he quickly learned how to survive the many harsh winters, making him a quick candidate for success. At the age of 4, he was already programming in DOS and making COBOL applications. After spending several years in programming and network engineering he decided to further his education at a private university. Upon graduation he reconnected with his future wife to be, who in turn helped him find the missing job link in his career belt as the IT Director of Lifestyle Center of America.
David Tanksley – Facilities Director
David has been in the “building fixing” business since high school. Has been self employed for several years in the past and does everything from air conditioning to flower watering and house building. His favorite job is working with nature in the great outdoors; and loves watching critters. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education and a TX teaching certification. His actives and hobbies are limited only by the amount time and money he can come up with. Here at the Sulphur, OK campus he is the Facilities Director, which means he's the one in charge of fixing stuff. If it breaks, guess who gets a call!
